Vinegar – weight loss tool?
The article “Vinegar Might Help Keep Off Pounds” from EverydayHealth arrived in my inbox this morning. I’ll summarize/paraphrase the article:
A recent study with mice and vinegar showed that vinegar might aid in fat control. Vinegar is low in calories and is a frequently-used condiment, but can it prevent fat accumulation?
Two groups of mice where fed a high fat diet, one group with acetic acid (vinegar) and another water. The vinegar group gained 10% less weight than the water group. The full study is written up in July 8, 2009 issue of Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
The study found that acetic acid inhibited fat accumulation, cholesterol and triglycerides by increasing the action of genes involved in fatty acid oxidation (fat broken down to energy). Meaning you burn fat rather than store it.
So maybe there is something to Fergie taking shots of apple cider vinegar?
