Men’s Health – Cut your workout in half
My brother moved to Montreal a year ago and left me with his collection of Men’s Health, Scientific American and Discovery. While I was cleaning the store room, I came across some and pulled 2 out to read today. Came across the snippet “Cut your workout in half”
“In an Australian study, people who cranked out 20min of high intensity interval training 3 days a week dropped 10% of their body fat, while those who exercised longer but at a lower intensity didn’t lose any. “
I came across this at the right time – I want to do a more intense 2 day split twice a week, and needed to spend less on cardio, more on weights to get it all in!
So 20min higher intensity cardio, while upping my weights. Upper body one day, lower body the next (with abs, if time). Also, you know you’re doing HIIT at the correct level when you cannot go for longer than 20min! Be honest with yourself 😉 !
