Exercise Making You Fat?

“I’m 35 and I have gone up to 159 lbs. When I signed on this program a week ago I was at 157 lbs. I’ve added approx 45 min of exercise at least 3 times a week burning approx 650 calories each time.

Even started eating breakfast either oatmeal or a breakfast lean pocket under 275 calories. I’m hungriest after work eating whaterver is easiest to make and my energy is very low after work too.

I feel that I’m killing myself at the gym and eating right. Don’t understand why I’m gaining weight. Anyone else have this problem or have been able to get over the hurdle in the beginning?”

Will Ab Exercises Make Me Look Bigger?

Q: I have always heard that doing crunches or any other abdominal workout will flatten your stomach, but recently I was told that doing stomach exercises alone will only make your midsection look bigger by basically building muscle under fat. Which is true?

A:  Your abdominal wall is basically composed of layers of muscle covered by fat. Some people have very little fat and very defined muscles six-pack abs. Others have a very thick layer of fat, which essentially hides the muscles underneath (a beer belly). In order to “flatten” your stomach, you need to reduce the amount of fat in your abdomen area, and this is only achieved through weight loss.Doing abdominal exercises does nothing to reduce your fat layer, but it also does NOT make your belly bigger. For the average person, the fat layer is so much bigger than the muscle layer that adding a little muscle has no appreciable effect on the size of your stomach. To get the abdomen you want, lose some belly fat and add some abdominal muscle.

Classic diner breakfast delivers dietary bomb

The peameal bacon and egg breakfast at Wimpy’s Diner, which they label a “Classic” with three exclamation points, doesn’t stray from the familiar look and taste.

The piled-high plate comes with three eggs, four pieces of peameal-style bacon, two slices of buttered toast and a mound of home fries. For our test, we chose the eggs over easy and toasted rye.

We know that nutrition numbers won’t steer people away from this favourite breakfast. But still, we thought it good to know what we’re digging into so early in the day.

It’s not pretty.

The Classic clocks in with 969 calories, 50 grams of fat and 2,223 mg of sodium. A lot to ingest before lunch.
