Dear Diary,

I got back in the gym this week and have been following my nutritionist’s plan.  The diet isn’t too bad…lots of food and I am full for most of the day!  Hungry in the AM (good time to be, higher metabolic rate and workouts).

Diet for last 2 days

Breakfast: oatmeal, wheatgerm, ground flaxseed, bee pollen, blueberries, green tea, 2 eggs, water

Pre-workout snack: 10g BCAA in water (yuck!) or apple juice, 10g chicken for protein

Post-workout snack: 30g chicken for protein, peach

Snack: 1/2 turkey avocado sandwich

Lunch: roast beef and butternut squash

Snack: 1/2 turkey avocado sandwich or protein bar (if I was hungry in the AM and ate the other 1/2 sandwich then!)

Dinner: roast beef, butternut squash, cottage cheese, asparagus

Workout

Monday – arms, shoulders, 20min cardio

arms: 20lbs dumbbells curls, 15lbs hammer curls

shoulders: 15lbs dumbbell press, 8lbs lateral and front raises,

Tuesday- legs, cardio

15lbs step up, lunge, squat and dead lift, do all once, rest, repeat

30lb calf raises, 80lb leg extension, 60lbs leg curl, do all once, repeat for total 3X

105lbs single leg press, 195lbs double leg press, do all once, repeat 3X

I Ran My First 5K!

I did it!  I did have to walk for the 3rd kilometer but it was good!  Think I’m hooked no the marathoning!  51:00 min!  I think that I could have ran the whole thing, given I was up to running 4km in July…with a cold bug in August and Orientation, running went to the side…maybe a 10K next year!

Dear Diary

Hello!

I met with my nutritionist/personal trainer for the first time yesterday.  I enjoyed it…gave me some motivation.

Found out I weight about 153lbs, 36% body fat, goal weight in a year!  Maybe 135lbs-125lbs.

So, biggest changes? Eat less carbs as the day goes on, and incorporate more real food (Zone bars are for emergencies only), and eat more veggies!

We’ve also incorporated sports nutrition…eating before, during and after a workout.  BCAA, here I come!  (BCAA is branch chain amino acids)

So…how am I doing?  4 treats a week, and I used them up all on the first night.  Some classmates and I went out for pool and drinks. 

Today:

Breakfast – salmon

Lunch: Zone bar

Dinner: salmon, butternut squash/califlower with light mozz cheese, milk, peach

Snack: butternut squash/califlower with light mozz cheese, milk, some pcs of chicken breast

I haven’t been working out as much – trying to get into the gym grove.  Next week!

Dear Diary,

Today was a good day.  I biked to work, did cardio on the elliptical for 30min and sat in lecture from 930am to 5pm.  Looong sit.  Got through it though with water and protein bars! 

I picked up 2 Zone bars this AM and had my metal water bottle with me.  I did have a toasted whole wheat bagel with light cream cheese for lunch.  I loaded up on veggies at dinner at a salad bar.  And chicken.  And a dessert.  It was meh.  Won’t get it again!

I’m back!  I’m back in the game.  I was down to 150lbs after all the stress, not eating and running around of the orientation week.  I’d like to keep it down, but think I already gained 5lbs in a weekend!  I’m eating again.  Mom sent me a carrot cake which I did eat all of it.  I’m back to eating healthy though.  Made chicken breasts for the coming week.  Gala apples are sooo good. Breakfasts are back to the usual oatmeal, wheat germ, flaxseed, bee pollen, berries, 2 eggs, coffee and water.

I did get back to the gym this week.  Did arms and shoulders with abs one day, and legs the next with 10min cardio.  Today I did the below workout.  I’m trying to do like 30min of cardio, or more if possible.  Trying to bike on the days that I’m not working late.

OMG!!! Orientation starts on Wednesday.  So excited and not as stressed as last week.  I’m training for my new job in the school library today and tomorrow, which compounds my busyness.  I ate breakfast (the usual) and had some cookie pizza, and a burrito for dinner.  I am running around working 2 jobs…so tired, on my feet all day!  Good news is that I’m paired with another library worker, whom I worked with at a previous library!  Yay!

Made a decision – booked a date next week with a nutritionist/trainer!  Big changes!

Dear Diary,

 I am posting for today and yesterday.  I am crazy busy – I’m planning orientation (by myself!) for my school and next Wednesday is the day it all begins!  So I’m running around, checking, double checking, assembling welcome kits, making schedules, meeting with people, helping panicking new students, having meetings, filming a video….etc….!!!  All this while trying to regain my health from that nasty cold I had last week.

I did make it to the gym yesterday and I’m sore from it and Monday’s workout.  I didn’t go today because I went an bought my textbooks and school supplies, and lugged box upon box of welcome kit items from the basement to the assembly room.

Tuesday

Breakfast: oatmeal, bee pollen, wheatgerm, ground flaxseed, berries with peaches, 2 scrambled eggs, coffee, water

Snack: 1/2 my lunch (roast beef, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots)

Lunch: Other 1/2 my lunch

Snack: The Zone bar

Dinner: cottage cheese, light caesar salad, protein shake with bee pollen and wheat germ

Snack: light caesar salad, roast beef and cottage cheese

tues

Wednesday

Breakfast: oatmeal, bee pollen, wheatgerm, ground flaxseed, berries with peaches, 2 scrambled eggs, coffee, water

Snack: 1/2 my lunch (roast beef, potatoes, tomatoes, carrots)

Lunch: Other 1/2 my lunch

Snack: The Zone bar, diet coke

Snack: protein shake with bee pollen and wheatgerm, berries and peaches

Update: Damnit!  Dinner was wedges, chicken breasts…and carrot cake.

Dear Diary,

I finally am feeling better.  Still waking up with a wicked headache and coughing, but feeling overall better.  I biked to work today although I was slower than normal.  I did a more relaxed version of my usual workout (chest, back, abs, cardio).  I did eat though.  Getting my appetite back.

Breakfast: oatmeal, wheatgerm, ground flaxseed, bee pollen, berries, coffee, water

Snack: The Zone bar

Lunch: The Zone bar

Dinner: wedges, chicken breast, water

Snack: maybe carrot cake…..

Dear Diary,

I’ve been sick with a nasty cold.  I’m hoping mono didn’t return again.  It was very hot in Toronto this past week and I didn’t sleep much, so I think that was what made it so bad.  So I’ve been taking it easy and forcing myself to eat.  Luckily I can down oatmeal,bee wheatgerm, flaxseed and bee pollen.  It’s highly nutritious, so at least even if I don’t meet my calorie requirements, I am getting some vitamins, minerals and macro nutrients.

I haven’t been biking to work or going to the gym as I’m too exhausted and didn’t want to tax my body anymore.   I did do a light weight workout today to stimulate muscles so not to lose much muscle mass through not working out or eating enough.

serneaHave lots of time to watch the WTA Rogers Cup in Toronto.  Good semi-finals match – Serena is out!

Dear Diary,

I have been battling a sore throat since the last Thursday.  On top of that, I have lost my voice!  I had to give 2 presentations yesterday, which did not help.  I have to do another one tomorrow too!  The upside is the Dean and the office boys think I have a sexy phone operator voice.  Maybe that is why I got more calls then usual today.

I haven’t been biking to work or working out, hoping to rest up to get rid of this sore throat. 

I have been eating well, albeit not enough.

Breakfast: oatmeal, wheatgerm, ground flaxseed, bee pollen, blueberries

Snack: The Zone bar

Lunch: chicken eggplant stirfry on white rice

Dinner: blackened fish, blackened chicken, bourbon rice, veggies, chocolate milk

I do drink chocolate milk and water throughout the night
