New Rules For Sunscreen

“As of next summer in the U.S., products that have a sun protection factor below 15 and don’t protect against skin cancer and early skin aging will have to have a warning label: “This product has been shown only to help prevent sunburn, not skin cancer or early skin aging.”

What does a good sunscreen have?

  • Daily SPF of 15
  • Broad sprectrum (block UVA and UVB rays)
  • Use 1tbsp
  • Apply before putting on your clothes, get ears, scalp, feet and tops of knees
  •  Contain avobenzone, ecamsule (Mexoryl), titanium dioxide, or zinc  oxide
  • Reapplied every 2 hours, after sweating or going in water

Vitaminwater Not Nutritious

“[C]onsumers would be surprised to find out their “nutritious” drink actually contained four to five teaspoons of added sugar.

The Vitaminwater label lists the amounts of specific medicinal ingredients in the beverage but only lists the presence of non-medicinal ingredients (like cane sugar and citric acid) and not how much has been added.

In reality, a 591 ml bottle of Vitaminwater contains about 33 grams of sugar, while a 355 ml can of Coke contains 39 grams”

Thinking Of Eating Can Help Curb Eating

A new study that is published in the journal Science theorizes that thinking of eating a food can help reduce the amount of such food you consume.  This indicates that you can reduce a craving just by thinking of eating the food.  Imagine sticking to your diet and having the psycological feelings that you at all the food you really want to?  Try this over the holidays!

“We found basically that repeatedly imagining the consumption of a food reduces the subsequent actual consumption of that food,” says Casey Morewedge, the lead study author.

“We think it can help them reduce the desire to consume, to eat less of the bad foods that they crave…and make healthier food choices,”
