Dear Diary,

Just wanted to confess that I ate a container of Hagan Daaz last night.  I was forcing myself to study for a midterm and ate the whole thing.  Not proud, it was good.  So I effed up.

Got back on the healthy eatingn today, and worked out at home, legs, abs and cardio to DDR2.

Hello, guilt!

Green Tea – Weight Loss Tool?

I’m trying to drink green tea in place of my AM coffee…some days I can do it!  My nutritionist put it in my diet.  Up to 4 cups a day.  From EverydayHealth.com:

Q: Does drinking green tea really help you lose weight?

A: Green tea is a natural antioxidant. One study showed that men who consumed green tea and caffeine burned more calories than those who consumed a placebo and caffeine. I would not conclude from this single study, though, that green tea can really help you lose weight. And remember, natural does not always mean “good for you.” In this case, however, green tea does have some healthful properties, but they are related to its effects as an antioxidant and not to any effect it has on weight loss.

Dear Diary

I am in the midst of midterms and am sick, so that is why I haven’t been posting.  Sorry!

I did go to the gym on Thursday and on suggestion from my nutritionist/trainer, he said to up the weights significantly.  40lbs dumbbell single arm back row – check!  25lbs dumbbell curl – check!  “All you need to manage is 4 reps!” Check!

Felt sore the next day, but hello muscles!  (Ok, maybe in  a few weeks!)

Hello!  I met with my nutritionist again today and I lost 3 pounds and almost 2% body fat!  Woohoo!  His methods work.  I worked out 3 times last week, cardio and weights, targeting different parts (lower body and abs, shoulders and arms, back and chest).

So happy!  Also eating the way he told me to makes me not hungry later on in the day.  No cravings!  Also over the (Canadian) Thanksgiving last weekend didn’t over eat, or eat any desserts!

Dear Diary,

Hello!  I am still trying to work out when to go to school, when to work, when to workout and when to post!

I worked out Monday and Wednesday, hoping to Friday and a couple of times on the Thanksgiving Weekend (Yah Canada!).

I’ve been following my nutritionist’s eating plan.  Breakfast, eat around the workout, but Wednesday took my treat day and had fastfood (bad!) with some drinks.  Probably will break and have drinks this weekend at a friend’s bonfire.  Not that sure I’ll go hogwild with the TG food…turkey and veggies!

I think I am having issues with portion, or being lazy near the end of the week.  Will look into it next weekend.  Should be losing 0.5lbs a week…don’t think I’ve gained but not sure I’ve lost.  Will see Wednesday!

This week I broke up the workout into 3 – run abs on sunday, arms shoulders 20min cardio on Monday, little bit of legs and run on Wednesday, and today chest and back with cardio. 

My hope is to do a 3 day split with abs on those days, along with 20min of cardio…on off days do 30-40min of cardio.  Will report next week!

I will be with family over Fri-Mon.  Look for posts Tuesday!

Dear Diary,

I got back in the gym this week and have been following my nutritionist’s plan.  The diet isn’t too bad…lots of food and I am full for most of the day!  Hungry in the AM (good time to be, higher metabolic rate and workouts).

Diet for last 2 days

Breakfast: oatmeal, wheatgerm, ground flaxseed, bee pollen, blueberries, green tea, 2 eggs, water

Pre-workout snack: 10g BCAA in water (yuck!) or apple juice, 10g chicken for protein

Post-workout snack: 30g chicken for protein, peach

Snack: 1/2 turkey avocado sandwich

Lunch: roast beef and butternut squash

Snack: 1/2 turkey avocado sandwich or protein bar (if I was hungry in the AM and ate the other 1/2 sandwich then!)

Dinner: roast beef, butternut squash, cottage cheese, asparagus

Workout

Monday – arms, shoulders, 20min cardio

arms: 20lbs dumbbells curls, 15lbs hammer curls

shoulders: 15lbs dumbbell press, 8lbs lateral and front raises,

Tuesday- legs, cardio

15lbs step up, lunge, squat and dead lift, do all once, rest, repeat

30lb calf raises, 80lb leg extension, 60lbs leg curl, do all once, repeat for total 3X

105lbs single leg press, 195lbs double leg press, do all once, repeat 3X
