I enjoy yoga classes and couldn’t believe how much more flexible I got after a 4 week class.  I really enjoyed the wall poses, being upside down.  You can also do yoga at home, just google “yoga video” and you can find some at-home routines.   You can borrow some DVDs from your library.  You can look up routines on iTunes.

Vitaminwater Not Nutritious

“[C]onsumers would be surprised to find out their “nutritious” drink actually contained four to five teaspoons of added sugar.

The Vitaminwater label lists the amounts of specific medicinal ingredients in the beverage but only lists the presence of non-medicinal ingredients (like cane sugar and citric acid) and not how much has been added.

In reality, a 591 ml bottle of Vitaminwater contains about 33 grams of sugar, while a 355 ml can of Coke contains 39 grams”

Can I Exercise While Sick?

Q: Should you work out when you have a cold? Anything special to keep in mind?

A: The rule of thumb for exercising while sick is called the above/below-the-neck rule. If your symptoms appear above the neck (runny nose, sneezing, sore throat), then yes, you can continue with a low-intensity workout. Studies have shown that exercising at a moderate-intensity level does not intensify cold symptoms or compromise the immune system. Avoid high-intensity exercise, such as heavy weight lifting and high-intensity aerobic training, which has been shown to have a negative impact on the immune system during a cold or any respiratory infection.

If your symptoms are below the neck (diarrhea, intense coughing, vomiting, fever), then the American College of Sports Medicine and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention suggest you let your illness run its course before resuming physical activity.

Pick a fitness goal – My resolution is to run another 5Km race.  Pick a goal.  It can be a Try-a-Triathalon (a shorter version of a triathlon, you can “try it”), a 5Km walk/run, a bike, a hike up a (small) mountain, or to fit into a bikini for a trip!

Recipes and Meal Plans – I use the Eat Clean diet workout books, recipes and guide because it’s so simple and not expensive.  You use real whole foods and work out.  No gimicks.
