If I’m On My Feet All Day, That’s A Cardio Workout, Right?
I’m on my feet all of my 8 hour shift, and my legs were feeling it the first week of my new job. So I thought that because I was on my feet and walking all day that that was enough of a workout. Then I picked up the Women’s Health Training Guide and this question was in it:
Q: I’m on my feet all day. Do I really need to hit the gym, too?
A: If you’re walking from 9 to 5 and the numbers on the scale are stagnant or heading in the wrong direction, then yes, a more intense workout may be in order. Even walking nonstop, you wouldn’t burn much more than 500 calories in a typical workday. Aim for 20 to 30 minutes of strength training followed by 20 minutes of intense cardio, such as intervals, three times a week. You’ll get a metabolism boost and burn extra calories.

How Good Is Sushi For Your Health?
The bad stuff: white rice and mirin, a sugar sauce used to make the rice sticky.
The good stuff: brown rice, no mirin, and nori (the seaweed).
Nori can:
- Help reduce chances of developing Type 2 diabetes (which can be brought on by white rice and mirin)
- High in Vit. A and C
- Help reduce cholesterol
- High in magnesium

Tricks To Suppress Your Appetite
Women’s Health came out with these tips on how to (healthily) suppress your appetite. Click the link to see their reasoning.
- Protein with breakfast
- Eat potatoes (with skins)
- Eat healthy fats
- Exercise (actually suppresses appetite and also makes you think twice about eating unhealthily…takes a lot of work to burn off 200 calories, less than a chocolate bar)
- Eat grapefruit (my fav fruit, top fav foods with olives and cottage cheese)

From Women’s Health, here’s a sequence of 8 exercises to lean out and tone your lower half. I like wood choppers. You can even feel it in your abs and sides if you cross from left foot to over right shoulder, and vice versa for a modified version.
